Flickering laptop screen: quick fixes

• Open Task Manager. If the Task Manager flickers too, the cause is usually the display driver; if it does not, an app is the cause.
• Update or roll back the graphics driver.
• Set the refresh rate in Settings > Display > Advanced display.
• Connect an external monitor. If it does not flicker, the laptop panel or cable is faulty.
• Gently opening and closing the lid: if the flicker changes, the display cable is loose or worn.

A worn cable can be replaced, so do not ignore it; it may get worse.
