Phone fell in water: first steps

• Take it out and switch it off at once. Do not try to turn it on.
• Remove the case, SIM and memory card.
• Wipe the outside with a soft cloth.
• Do not charge it, shake it or use a hair dryer on high heat.
• Leave it in a dry, airy place for at least a day.
• Take it to a technician quickly; water can corrode the board over days.

Even a phone sold as water resistant should be dried and checked after salt or soapy water.
