SSD vs hard disk: which is better?
- SSD has no moving parts, so it is much faster, quieter and more shock-resistant.
- A hard disk gives more space for less money but is slow and can fail if dropped.
- Windows starts in seconds on an SSD and in minutes on an old hard disk.
- For most people, 256GB or 512GB SSD is the best choice.
- Use an external hard disk for old photos and videos.
If your laptop only has a hard disk, changing to an SSD is the cheapest big upgrade.
