How to back up WhatsApp chats safely

• Open WhatsApp > Settings > Chats > Chat backup.
• Choose Google Drive (Android) or iCloud (iPhone) and set automatic backup.
• Include videos only if you have enough space.
• Before changing the phone, take a fresh backup and keep the same phone number.
• Make sure your Google or Apple account is the same on the new phone.

Check that the backup date shows today before you wipe the old phone.
